Dr. Chris Garrod is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience, specialising in child and family mental health. Born, raised, and trained in Yorkshire, UK, Dr. Garrod completed his clinical doctorate while working in the NHS. After working in the NHS and at a university, he moved to New Zealand in 2016, where he has made significant contributions to mental health services. He has held roles such as National Practice Advisor for the Ministry of Education’s Intensive Wraparound Service, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, and Acting Clinical Lead at the Mason Clinic. Currently, Dr. Garrod operates a thriving private practice.
His expertise spans psychological assessments, therapy, and interventions tailored to school-aged children, as well as working with fostered and adopted children, and forensic mental health services. He is highly experienced in delivering training to parents, professionals, and young people and works directly with schools to support students’ mental health needs.
Chris brings creativity, energy, and compassion to his work, always prioritising the well-being of children and families. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his family, participating in sports, surfing, hiking, and learning about history. He is also passionate about the ocean and has played rugby to a high level, competes in running competitions, and enjoys football.
